Botox might be a recent hot discussion topic, and well known for being the elixir of youth, but it has been around for a lot longer than most people would think. Botox was first FDA approved in 1989 for therapeutic uses and expanded into aesthetic uses years after. In 2002, the FDA approved Botox for cosmetic treatments such as crows feet, forehead lines, and frown lines in adults. Not too long after, Botox came to be one of the world’s most well-known, iconic brands. There have been over 500 peer-reviewed studies on the safety and efficacy of the neurotoxin, which has made it widely researched and studied, assuring it is safe in the hands of a medical professional.

Just a decade ago, Botox injections were not as casually discussed and occasionally suggested that it gave people a “frozen” or “plastic.” Thankfully, that is not the case today. It takes about 7-10 days to kick in and lasts up to 3-4 months.
