Our TOp PIcks for At Home Skin Devices

Over the last 5 years the beauty industry has exploded. The consumer has become much more educated and interested in taking skin care, acne and aging into their own hands. Something that has become quite popular is personalized skincare regimens and at home facial devices. The at home facial devices do not have the capabilities that in office lasers and facial treatments have, but they are helping to bridge the gap and make skin treatments more accessible and affordable to more people.

The NuFace is an at-home device that uses a gentle flow of microcurrent to assist with skin laxity and can be used for anti-aging purposes. Microcurrent can assist the blood flow and circulation as well as stimulate collagen to strengthen and tighten the skin. This device can offer a “lifted look,” and it is fairly easy to use, the key is consistency to see results.

Another popular at home device is the NuDerma high frequency skin therapy wand. You may have heard of this technology before as it can be used for a variety of skin or even hair conditions. Some benefits of incorporating this device into your regimen include; treating active acne, puffiness under the eyes, redness, inflammation, and stimulating hair growth. The NuDerma high frequency skin therapy wand is very safe and simply involves applying a glass tube that emits neon and argon gases in the form of light to the surface of the skin. The argon (violet) gas treats acne and the neon (red/orange) gas targets anti-aging. This is my favorite at home tool for helping with acne breakouts, and it’s affordable!

LED masks are another beneficial tool that can easily be used while relaxing at home. If you are a lover of facials, you probably have received LED light therapy at the end of your treatment. LED light therapy is an easy and painless way to help with treating wrinkles, redness, acne, and inflammation. Because of its ability to do so much for the skin, it became popular with dermatologists and estheticians. Omnilux is one brand of an LED mask that has been found to be effective in managing and treating acne, including mild to moderate and cystic acne. Lucky for us, they created LED lights and masks that can be used at home, and they are quite soothing too, again consistency is key to see optimal results.

Lastly, the newest at home device on the market is the Lyma Laser. This laser is known as the most powerful at home laser, used to target hyperpigmentation, aging, scars, rosacea, and acne. While the Lyma Laser will set you back about $2700, but it is easy to use, safe, as well as a painless. To make this laser safe for at home use, the heat is taken away from the laser, while still penetrating through multiple layers of the skin. It is recommended to use twice a day for at least five weeks for optimal results. Though it is the most time consuming of the at home devices, it is safe for all skin types and there have been promising reviews by many customers.

While these at home devices have many benefits, you should not ditch your dermatologist or skin care provider yet. These devices are a perfect way to maintain treatments and care you receive from your provider. Though they are not as strong as an in office treatment, these can be very useful in maintaining your skin health between the more invasive treatments.
